Australia and Japan have built upon our Special Strategic Partnership, signing a new Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on quantum science, technology, and innovation.
This will strengthen links between Australia and Japan’s quantum ecosystems by increasing opportunities for collaboration, investment, research, and commercialisation.
Under the Memorandum, Australia and Japan will deepen cooperation across a range of priority areas, including regional quantum leadership, access to infrastructure, commercialisation, supply chain resilience and education and workforce development.
This arrangement will support greater access to research infrastructure, encourage industry partnerships, and help accelerate the development and adoption of quantum technologies across both economies and throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan – highlighting one of the Indo-Pacific region’s most successful and enduring bilateral relationships.
