Funding for incubators driving positive change

The Morrison Government is backing new incubators to help bold ideas get off the ground, so we can keep growing the economy and get more Australians into work.

Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews said the Sydney-based Social Impact Hub would help start-ups develop social impact strategies that focus on outcomes to issues that sometimes require tailored solutions.

Maker & Co Collective in Bunbury, WA has a vision to create a better, smarter future by connecting a global community of inventors, creatives, entrepreneurs and innovators.

“The Morrison Government understands that innovation creates new job opportunities, as well as making the lives of Australians better,” Minister Andrews said.

“From regional WA to the heart of our largest city, these incubators foster growth in innovation which is central to growing our economy and creating new jobs.

“Social Impact Hub has already facilitated employment opportunities for disabled Australians, while Maker & Co is helping start-ups realise their ideas to create jobs in regional Western Australia.

“In helping start-ups with the skills they need to succeed, these incubators are also helping local communities grow.”

The funding distribution is:

  • Social Impact Hub (NSW) with a grant of $385,000
  • Maker & Co Collective (WA) with a grant of $206,050

Since 2016, over $23 million in funding has been awarded under the Incubator Support initiative, which is an element of our government’s Entrepreneurs’ Programme.
