Reappointment ensures continuity on the CSIRO board

19 April 2017

One of the Australia's most experienced biotechnology experts, Dr Peter Riddles, has been reappointed as a member to the CSIRO Board for a five-year term.

Dr Riddles has made significant contributions to the CSIRO Board since his initial appointment in April 2014. I am delighted that Dr Riddles has agreed to continue serving the Board, ensuring retention of his valuable corporate knowledge and expertise.

Dr Riddles’ exceptional skills and experience in governance and strategy across the life science industries, coupled with his expertise in commercialisation and innovation, complement those of existing CSIRO Board members.

As a Queensland-based biotechnologist, Dr Riddles has substantial experience from his broad range of executive roles in the biotechnology industry. He was founder and president of AusBiotech, director of the Australian Stem Cell Centre Ltd and executive director of CSIRO's Bioactive Molecules Initiative.

Dr Riddles, an experienced board member, is also a member of the AusIndustry Entrepreneurs’ Program Committee (Innovation and Science Australia Board) and the Chairman of the Griffith Enterprise Advisory Board. Previous board positions include the Industry Research and Development Board, Chairman of Life Sciences Queensland Ltd, the Wound Management Cooperative Research Centre, and a member of the Alberta Research and Innovation Authority in Canada.

I congratulate Dr Riddles on his reappointment and I am confident his wealth of experience will continue to add significant value to the CSIRO. Dr Riddles’ new term starts on 24 April 2017.
